Install the Pekpik VPN APK on Android safely

Android

Pekpik VPN isn’t on Google Play at the moment, so on Android you install the official APK from the Android download page. Download it in your phone’s browser, allow that browser to install unknown apps when Android asks, and tap Install. You need Android 8.0 or later.

Download and install

  1. On your phone, open the Android download page and tap Download the APK.
  2. When the download finishes, open the file from the browser’s downloads or your notifications.
  3. If Android says your browser isn’t allowed to install unknown apps, tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
  4. Tap Install, then Open.
  5. Read the privacy summary and tap Accept and Continue. The app sets up a guest account for you automatically.

After installing, you can turn Install unknown apps off again for your browser. It isn’t needed to use Pekpik VPN, and updates from pekpik.com will ask again.

Check the file is genuine

Only download the APK from pekpik.com. The download page lists the SHA-256 checksum of the current APK. To compare it, download the same APK on a computer and run one of these commands, then check that the result matches the page exactly:

  • Windows (PowerShell): Get-FileHash followed by the file path and -Algorithm SHA256
  • Mac (Terminal): shasum -a 256 followed by the file path

If the checksum doesn’t match, don’t install the file. Delete it and download again from pekpik.com.

If Android or Play Protect warns you

Android warns about any app that doesn’t come from Google Play. Google Play Protect may also offer to scan the app; you can let it scan. Only continue if the file came from pekpik.com and its checksum matches.

Next: your first connection

The first time you connect, Android asks you to allow a VPN connection. See Grant VPN permission on Android.
