What is Kill Switch?
Kill Switch blocks internet traffic that would otherwise leave your device outside the VPN. It works differently on each system: on Mac it’s a setting in Pekpik VPN, on Windows it adds firewall rules that also block the internet while you’re disconnected, and on Android it uses the system setting Block connections without VPN. It is off by default.
What you may see in the app
- Block traffic when VPN disconnects
- Blocks non-Pekpik internet traffic when disconnected and only allows TUN traffic when connected
- Enable Android's Block connections without VPN in system VPN settings.
Mac
While connected, macOS sends all traffic through the VPN and blocks it if the tunnel drops unexpectedly. Your local network, such as printers, AirPlay and Screen Sharing, still works. When you disconnect on purpose, normal internet returns. Kill Switch needs macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
- Open Pekpik VPN and go to Account.
- Under Privacy & Security, turn on Kill Switch (“Block traffic when VPN disconnects”).
- Connect again. The setting applies from your next connection.
Windows
On Windows, Kill Switch “Blocks non-Pekpik internet traffic when disconnected and only allows TUN traffic when connected”. This is strict: while it’s on, your PC has no internet outside Pekpik VPN whenever you’re not connected, including after you disconnect or quit the app. Your local network still works.
- Open Pekpik VPN and go to Account.
- Under Privacy & Security, turn on Kill Switch.
Lost internet with Kill Switch on? See No internet on Windows after disconnecting or a crash.
Android
With this on, Android blocks all internet traffic whenever Pekpik VPN isn’t connected. See Always-on VPN and “Block connections without VPN”.
- Open Pekpik VPN, go to Account, and under Privacy & Security tap Kill Switch. This opens Android’s VPN settings.
- Tap the gear icon next to Pekpik VPN.
- Turn on Always-on VPN, then Block connections without VPN.
