“Invalid or expired verification code”
iPhone & iPadUpdated
The code you entered doesn’t match an active code for that email. Codes expire after 10 minutes, can only be used once, and stop working as soon as you request a new one. Request a fresh code and enter the digits from the newest email.
What you may see in the app
- Invalid or expired verification code
- The verification code is invalid or expired.
- Wrong or expired code. Re-enter it or request a new one.
Common causes
- A typo, or a code copied from an older email.
- More than 10 minutes have passed since the code was sent.
- You requested another code, which cancels the previous one.
- The code was already used to sign in.
- Too many wrong attempts: after 5 wrong tries the code is blocked, even if it hasn’t expired.
- The email address on the code screen is different from the one that received the code.
Fix it
- Check the email address shown on the code screen. On iPhone, tap Change Email if it’s wrong.
- Wait for the resend countdown to finish, then tap Resend Code.
- Open the newest email from [email protected] and enter its 6-digit code.
Still rejected?
Close and reopen the app, then start the sign-in again with a new code. If it still fails, email [email protected] with the email address you’re trying to use.
Still stuck? Email [email protected] with your Support ID from the Account page.
